The publisher Hearst has been a part of the Shine competition since the very beginning, some thirteen years ago, so it was fantastic to welcome Katie Vanneck-Smith, CEO of Hearst UK, to speak to our nominees on awards day this year.

Hearst are long-time sponsors and supporters of the competition and Katie’s speech was one of three truly memorable speeches from Shine 2023.

We’re showcasing each of the speeches on the website and this is the third in that series.

On Shine School Media Awards day 2023, we had three memorable speeches by amazing and inspiring women.

We will be showcasing the transcripts of the speeches here for anyone who wasn’t at the awards (and maybe a few people who were and would like to remember what was said!).

The first is by Sajeeda Merali, Chief Executive Officer of the PPA (Professional Publishers Association).

Congratulations to everyone who came along to the Shine School Media Awards 2023 yesterday. We had an amazing day celebrating tomorrow’s talent, back home in Stationers’ Hall.

We’re thrilled to announce the schools shortlisted for the Shine School Media Awards 2023.

The awards will be held on Monday 3rd July at Stationers’ Hall returning to our traditional home for the first time since June 2019, following both the pandemic and extensive renovations to the hall that were completed last summer.

Every summer at the Shine School Media Awards, our prizes include Masterclasses for exceptional students. Last year was no exception – and because of logistics, sometimes these special days occur a few months after the prize is awarded.

A couple of weeks ago we covered Hillary Hanslin’s prize day, today we are focusing on Neelkantha Mukherjee’s Masterclass with Dr Simon Heffer and Dr Glenda Cooper.
